Privacy Policy

Last updated: 14 July 2026 · Applies to chanse.com.au and the Chanse app

Chanse ("we", "us") is an Australian career platform operated from Melbourne, Victoria. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We comply with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles, and we extend the same protections to every user, wherever they are.

What we collect

  • Account details — name, email, and (if you use Google sign-in) the basic profile Google shares with us.
  • Career content you create — resumes, cover letters, interview answers (typed or voice-transcribed), scores, job preferences, applications, and employer briefs or job posts.
  • Business details (employers) — company name, ABN, website, industry and team size.
  • Messages and files — conversations and attachments you exchange with other users.
  • Technical data — the device and usage information needed to run and secure the service, and a push-notification subscription if you enable alerts.

How AI is involved — full disclosure

Chanse uses large language models to power specific features: structuring and reviewing resumes, generating cover letters, shaping job posts from plain words, running AI interviews, and scoring. When you use one of these features, the relevant text (for example, your resume or an interview answer) is sent to a third-party AI model provider strictly to produce that result. We send only what the feature needs, we never sell this content, and we configure providers not to retain or train on it where such controls are offered. AI outputs — reviews, scores, suggested pay ranges — are indicative and can be imperfect; they are decision support for humans, never an unreviewable automated decision about you.

Calls and screen sharing

Voice calls, video calls and screen shares are end-to-end encrypted by the WebRTC standard (DTLS-SRTP) and travel directly between the two devices wherever networks allow. When a relay server must carry the stream, it only ever sees encrypted data. We do not record calls.

Messages and files

Messages are encrypted in transit and at rest. Attachments live in private storage that only the two people in a conversation can access, through links that expire within an hour. Removing a message you sent also deletes its stored file.

Where your data lives

Your account data and content are stored with our cloud infrastructure provider (Supabase), which may host data outside Australia. As APP 8 requires, we take reasonable steps to ensure overseas processors handle your information consistently with this policy. A copy of your working data is also cached on your own device so the app stays fast; it is wiped from the device when you sign out.

Job listings

Live job matches are retrieved through the Adzuna API. Only your search filters (job titles, locations) are sent to fetch listings — your identity, resume and score are never shared with Adzuna.

What we never do

  • We never sell your personal information.
  • We never show your resume, score or conversations to an employer (or talent) you haven't chosen to engage with.
  • We never use your career content for advertising.

Cookies and local storage

We use only what the product needs to function: a session token so you stay signed in, and local storage for your drafts and preferences. No third-party advertising trackers.

Retention and deletion

We keep your information while your account is active. You can delete your content at any time, and you can ask us to delete your account and its data by emailing hello@chanse.com.au — verified requests are actioned within 30 days, except where the law requires longer retention.

Your rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, and you can withdraw notification permission at any time in your device settings. If you believe we've mishandled your information, contact us first — and you may also complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).

Age

Chanse is built for people starting their careers, but it is not directed at children under 15. If you believe a child's data has been provided to us, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes

When this policy changes materially, we'll update the date above and flag it in the app. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated policy.
